Our Christian Vision

At Spetisbury Church of England Primary School, everything we do is rooted in our Christian vision:

"Growing and maturing in our learning journey."

This vision is inspired by Psalm 1:3:

"They are like trees planted by streams of water,
that bear fruit at the right time,
and whose leaves do not dry up.
They succeed in everything they do."

We believe that every child is unique and valued. Just as a tree needs strong roots, care and nourishment to flourish, we aim to provide the support, encouragement and opportunities that enable every member of our school community to grow academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.

Our vision guides our decisions, shapes our relationships and influences the experiences we provide for children each day.

What is SIAMS?

SIAMS stands for the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools.

The inspection focuses on how effectively a church school lives out its Christian vision and how this enables all members of the school community to flourish.

Rather than looking solely at academic outcomes, SIAMS considers how a school's vision impacts:

  • Leadership and decision making
  • Collective worship
  • Religious Education
  • Relationships and inclusion
  • Personal development and wellbeing
  • Spiritual development
  • Community engagement

Further information about SIAMS can be found through the National Society for Education Website.

Living Our Vision

Flourishing Together

At Spetisbury, we want every child and adult to flourish.

We encourage children to:

  • Be curious learners
  • Develop resilience when faced with challenges
  • Show kindness and compassion towards others
  • Respect different beliefs, opinions and backgrounds
  • Reflect on their own values and choices
  • Recognise the positive difference they can make in the world

We are proud of the warm and supportive relationships that exist throughout our school community.

Collective Worship

Collective worship is a special part of school life and provides opportunities for reflection, prayer and spiritual growth.

Through daily worship, children explore:

  • Christian values
  • Bible stories and teachings
  • Current issues and global events
  • Big questions about life and faith

Children play an active role in worship through:

  • Leading prayers
  • Reading scripture
  • Sharing reflections
  • Serving as Worship Leaders
  • Helping to evaluate and develop worship across the school

We work closely with members of our local church community to enrich worship and strengthen links between school, church and village life.

Religious Education

Religious Education helps children to explore Christianity as a living faith while developing understanding and respect for a range of worldviews and religions.

Through RE, children are encouraged to:

  • Ask thoughtful questions
  • Explore beliefs and values
  • Reflect on their own views
  • Appreciate diversity
  • Develop critical thinking skills

Our RE curriculum supports both academic understanding and personal reflection.

Spiritual Development

Spiritual development is woven throughout school life.

Children are encouraged to reflect on:

  • Awe and wonder
  • Beauty and creativity
  • Relationships and belonging
  • Questions of meaning and purpose
  • Moments of stillness and reflection

Opportunities for spiritual development can be found in lessons, worship, outdoor learning, visits, celebrations and everyday conversations.

Courageous Advocacy

As a Church of England school, we believe that learning should inspire action.

Children are encouraged to recognise injustice and consider how they can make a positive difference in the world around them.

Examples of this include:

  • Supporting local and national charities
  • Environmental projects
  • Community initiatives
  • Fundraising activities
  • Pupil leadership opportunities

By developing empathy and compassion, children learn that their actions can have a positive impact on others.

Community

Spetisbury Church of England Primary School is proud to be at the heart of its local community.

We value the strong partnerships we have with:

  • Families
  • The local church
  • Village organisations
  • The Diocese
  • Our Trust and partner schools

These relationships help strengthen children's sense of belonging and provide opportunities to contribute to the wider community.

Our Christian Values

Throughout the year, we focus on values that help us live out our vision.

These values support children in developing character, making positive choices and building strong relationships.

We have our core values but also teach and learn about other Christian values such as Courage, Forgiveness and Hope.

  • Compassion
  • Honesty
  • Respect
  • Teamwork
  • Reflection
  • Perseverance
