Maths Fluency
Maths fluency at Spetisbury Primary School is based on the ready-to-progress criteria which is organised into strands, each of which has its own code for ease of identification. For planning purposes these have been colour coded for clarity on each calculation. These are listed below.
Ready- to- progress criteria strands | Code |
Number and place value | NPV |
Number facts | NF |
Addition and subtraction | AS |
Multiplication and division | MD |
Fractions | F |
.
At Spetisbury Primary School fluency will take part daily at the start of each Maths lesson. Each year group will use the ready-to-progress criteria to develop automaticity. Pupils should be able to choose and use efficient calculation methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. They must also have automatic recall of a core set of multiplicative and additive facts to enable them to focus on learning new concepts.
