Vision and Values

OUR VISION

At Spetisbury CE  Primary School we believe in giving everyone the opportunity to realise their full potential, within the context of a Christian ethos. Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens. We recognise the potential of each individual and the importance of nurturing and developing every aspect of their personality. Throughout our school trees form a symbolic pillar of our vision ; in the entrance, on our celebration wall, on our logo, around our environment. We have used this to help build our vision and tagline of:

“Growing and maturing in our learning journey”

DEEPLY ROOTED VISION

The book of Psalms can be seen to give instruction in a life of faith. Psalms 1  begins this instruction and also helps provide a biblical underpinning for our vision. Verse 3 shows great aspiration and alongside our school logo provides the vision for all of our school community.

Our Values

All of our learning and behaviour within school is supported by 6 main values. These values focus on our attitudes and behaviour for learning as well as our attitudes and behaviours towards others. They provide us with a moral compass, as individuals, within a community.

These values are rewarded using our MarvellousME app and are a focus within weekly themes. Staff and children alike work hard and learn how to show these values throughout their time in school in order that we can prepare for our lives beyond Spetisbury – whatever they might have in store.

Perseverance: We continue to achieve or to try despite challenge or difficulty.

'Happy is the person who remains faithful under trials.' James 1:12

Honesty: We know that this is more than just telling the truth - this should be a given. We are honest with ourselves and always commit to giving our very best.

'Our love should not just be words and tal; it must be true love which shows itself in action.' 1 John 3:18

Teamwork: Although we are individuals striving to be our very best, we know that we are part of a bigger team and through cooperation we can achieve much more as one school. 

'For the body itself is not made up of only one part, but of many parts.' 1 Corinthians 12:14.

Reflect: We all play our part to reflect upon, challenge and improve the way we lead our lives and how we use our talents.

Respect: We care for ourselves, each other, the environment and our community.

'Do for others what you want them to do for you.' Matthew 7:12

Compassion: We know that compassion is greater than sympathy or empathy and we therefore we are motivated to help and to show love.
